Autodesk MapGuide Viewer ActiveX Control is a legacy browser plug-in that embeds an interactive map viewer inside Microsoft Internet Explorer. It connects to MapGuide servers to display GIS maps and CAD-derived drawings on the web, letting users pan and zoom, toggle layer visibility, identify features, run basic attribute queries, and print map views. Designed for intranet deployments, it enabled organizations to deliver spatial data and asset information to end users without installing a full desktop GIS application. The control renders both vector and raster data published through MapGuide and supports hyperlinks and simple markups configured by the map author. Because it relies on ActiveX and Internet Explorer, it is no longer supported in modern browsers and is considered deprecated. Existing deployments typically run only in IE compatibility modes, and new projects should plan a migration to a plugin‑free, standards‑based web mapping viewer.
